Pneuma, – "breath of life" – is meditative consideration of the transformations that define human existence. Using the rhythmic medium of film, Pneuma represents a personal translation of inner thought. "It bloomed," says Sigismondi, "from a walking dream that unlocked something boundless and idyllic from my unconscious."
Pneuma is a journey of spirit through birth, it is rumination on time and sacred knowledge mediated by the body. It touches on the universal fear of the future unknown and the post-life plane into which we will, inevitably, venture.

Today, we're premiering the official music video for "USERS." It marks the third alter from the album, and was filmed at the hotel room in Joshua Tree where '60s alt-country legendGraham Parsons overdosed and died.
"I wrote the beginning stages of the song in this room a year before we shot there," Rothman told us in an email. "It is a snapshot of a larger long-form piece Floria [Sigismondi] and I are creating around my alters. The two characters in the video are unaware of what they are doing, they're stuck in a state between a dream and waking, much like a lucid dream."

The last we heard from Los Angeles weird auteur Lawrence Rothman, he was “California Paranoia” with Angel Olsen. As with that song, new single “Oz Vs. Eden” is nothing to write home about musically speaking — some ghoulish rock with demonic chants that’s apropos for the season, with Charli XCX providing some “na na”s and backing vocals — but the visuals are impeccable. Once again, Rothman worked with Floria Sigismondi on this one, and it’s set in a haunted house filled with all kinds of unspeakable, excessively creepy horrors. Rothman plays one of his alters, Kevin, and there’s also a pair of creepy siblings, a veiled old man, a gold-plated angel, and more. Check it out below. - Stereogum.com
